Dundee v Saints Preview

Despite trying his hardest, Saints boss Gus MacPherson has been unable to stregnthen Saints stirking department. James Grady opted for Gretna and cash instead of Saints and a chance at the first division title, whilst Sheffield United's Gary Mulligan is injured and won't be coming up on loan.

With no new strikers it looks as if Saints will be forced to play Mark Corcoran alongside Stewart Kean once more. Brian McGinty has been training over the past few days but isn't fit enough to play, whilst Billy Mehmet is still ill (although he could return to training as early as Monday). The only other striker we have, Mixu paatelainen, still hasn't started training after his operation in January as it looks more and more likely that he won't ever play for Saints again.

Saints only other injury problem is Ryan McCay who is out long term. As a result, it looks as if we'll go with the same players who struggled to beat second division Forfar Athletic in last week's League Challenge Cup match, although it is possible Ian Maxwell or John Potter could come into the starting lineup.

Dundee will be looking to get their seson off to a good start after being relegated from the SPL last season. Star striker Steve Lovell has gone and has been replaced by Simon Lynch, whilst their new Spanish signing fortunately won't be fit to play. Tam McManus is a doubt so could miss out, as are a few other players. Sadly Lee Wilkie is injured so won't cause mayehm in the homd efence, however Adrian Madaschi should play which is good news.

It is important to get off to a good start in the league this season but with our lack of firepower I don't see us scoring. Fortunately we have a good solid defence so I think this game will finish in a 0-0 draw.
