Celtic v Saints Preview

We may be top of the table, a few places and points better off than Celtic, and we may be undefeated, but let's not kid ourselves over this. We won't be leading the league for too much longer, and the fun probably won't last much more than another 24 hours. Celtic are defending champions and will be fighting for the SPL title come the end of the season, whilst we'll be battling against relegation.

However, for the time being we're top, and the Saints fans will be heading to Parkhead with "We're top of the league and you're no" once again in their song book. The Saints team will almost certainly be the same that has won it's last two matches, although manager Gus MacPherson may change it to a slightly more defensive lineup. Mark Corcoran could come into the starting lineup, as his pace could cause havoc to Celtic's defence.

Brian McGinty is the only definite absentee through injury, although Craig Hinchcliffe will probably be absent as well. Richard Brittain was missing last week and from the midweek reserve game against Motherwell, so it's likely that he also has an injury and will be missing. Former Celtic players David van Zanten and John Potter are set for their first competitive appearance at Parkhead, whilst John Sutton will be looking to do what has brother has done so many times and score in front of thousands of Celtic fans.

Celtic lost to Hearts last weekend which, considering their poor showing against AEK Athens, is something to be a bit worried about. Their defence looks incredibly shaky, and it wasn't helped by a killer through pass from captain Neil Lennon in the closing minutes of Sunday's match.

They may have struggled to score in pre-season, but they do have players more than capable of hitting the back of the net. Derek Riordan has been superb for Hibs over the past two seasons, whilst Kenny Miller has been excellent for Wolves. As we all know, Miller once scored five against Saints whilst playing for Rangers, and as he's yet to score for his new club we could be in big trouble.

Anything from tomorrow's game is a bonus, but with Saints on good form and Celtic manager Gordon Strachan already under pressure, anything could happen.
