January 2009 Rumour Mill Deadline Day Issue

Last updated : 02 February 2009 By Stuart Gillespie
What follows is a list of rumours about possible comings and goings involving Saints that have appeared on the web, in the press or somewhere else. If a rumour turns out to be true or false, this will be revealed in a future issue. Any player who leaves or signs without being mentioned here first, there won't be any details in the future.

There aren't many rumours at the moment, but this should be a good starting point for the hours ahead.

IN

Craig Brewster:
The veteran striker was invited to train with us after being sacked as manager of Inverness Caley Thistle. Gus MacPherson said he wouldn't be signing - but he's said that before. There has been interest from elsewhere, but according to Wikipedia we've already signed him! Hmm.

Steven Smith: Saints tried to sign the Rangers leftback on loan last week, but the deal fell through due to SPL rules. However, rumours today suggest we could be about to sign him permanently.

Marc Twaddle: We desperately need a leftback and Twaddle seems to have been doing well at Partick Thistle. However, the two sides are quite far apart in discussions over a fee.

OUT

Craig Dargo:
Media reports are linking him with a return to former clubs Kilmarnock and Inverness Caley Thistle.

Andy Dorman: Despite Dorman saying he wants to stay, he seems to be getting linked with a different team every week. Take your pick from Sheffield United, Bolton, Plymouth, Nottingham Forest and some League One sides.

Will Haining: Apparently selling his house and keen to move back down south, so could be moved on today.

Gary Mason: Rumours suggest he's turned down a new contract and he could end up leaving now, having been out of the team in recent weeks.

Ryan McCay: Told he can leave, could return to Montrose after earlier loan spell.

Tonet: Another apparently told he can leave - but does anyone want him?

CONFIRMED

None!

NOT HAPPENING

Felipe Morais:
The Hibs right winger moved to Inverness Caley Thistle just before they sacked Brewster.

Nothing else can be confirmed or denied - you never know what could happen today!
