Walker Going To Dunfermline

Walker had been linked with Dunfermline a few weeks ago, however Pars boss Jimmy Calderwood thought they could sign him for nothing. When he found out he had to pay, he withdrew his interest. Now, it seems Calderwood is prepared to pay £25,000, according to a Love Street source, to take the defender to East End Park.

The question has to be WHY??? Walker, in my opinion, was dreadful last season. However, along with some other players who I won't name (though people who know me will know EXACTLY who I am talking about), Walker was a local boy who supportered St. Mirren this seems to get you a much easier ride at Love Street than, for example, a player such as Gary Bowman. To me, Bowman had a much better season and had a decent spell at Love Street. Not so if you listen to the crowds, a single mistake and they are on his back. However Walker and the other Saints fans get away with murder on the pitch, purely because they are local boys.

While Walker had a good first season, including a stunning goal at Cappielow, his form got worse in the SPL and last season seemed to be a bald version of former Saints defender Ronnie McQuilter.

Should Walker leave, and it is expected the deal will be complete by the end of the week, he will be the second defender to leave, with former captain Barry McLaughlin having signed for Kilmarnock a few weeks ago.
