Vanzy stays a Saint

The popular defender has been in good form this year and is putting in the sort of displays he produced during his first spell with the club so getting him tied up for another year is good news

Vanzy was one of Danny Lennon's first signings when he took charge in the summer of 2010. The move marked a return to Paisley for the former Celtic youth player as he'd been at Saints between 2003 and 2008, winning the first division title and League Challenge Cup in the 2005/06 season. At the end of his contract in 2008 he signed a three year deal with Hibs but it was ripped up after little more than a year. Spells at Morton and Hamilton followed before he returned to the Buddies.

News of van Zanten's contract extension means there aren't too many first teamers whose futures are still up in the air. Jeroen Tesselaar's contract is due to expire in the summer but a deal has almost been sorted, while there are still question marks over Nigel Hasselbaink, Hugh Murray and Graeme Smith. Midfielder Steven Thomson is also out of contract in the summer although there are rumours he has already decided to leave.
