Trophy Anniversaries

The 1999/2000 side are now known as the Millenium Champions. A fantastic season that saw Saints score goals galore, with hauls of five, six and even eight notched up as we stormed to the title. The game against Raith wrapped things up - with goals from Mark Yardley, Steven McGarry and Barry McLaughlin wrapping up the league and sparking the biggest celebration Paisley had seen for some time.

Season 2005/06 was a bit more restrained, even though we won two trophies. Instead of a swashbuckling, freescoring side we concentrated on a good defence and we rarely hit any big numbers. Promotion was secured on April 15 with the trophy lifted a fortnight later after a defeat to St. Johnstone.

Two celebrations, six years apart, with April 29 both seeing trophy presentations. Add to that the fact the same date in 1995 saw us beat Dundee to secure our first division safety and you'll realise just how special a day it is for Saints fans.
