The Search For A Left Back

Last updated : 06 January 2004 By Stuart Gillespie
Ellis broke his leg against Clyde on Saturday and now looks to be out for the remainder of the season. With Saints boss Gus MacPherson preferring to play a flat back four, we need a new left back. We had needed a striker, but as we have some of those (albeit not very good ones) a left back has become the top target. Whether it's on loan or a permanent deal is not known, but considering we're hard for cash it will probably be a loan deal.

One man on everyone's lips is Aberdeen's Jamie McQuilken. They signed him from Falkirk in the summer but are prepared to let him go, along with several other players. Sadly it looks like he'll be moving to another first division club, with both St. Johnstone and Clyde reportedly interested.

Meanwhile it looks like Chris Iwelumo won't be leaving Stoke anytime soon. Mirren Mad told you recently that he'd been transfer listed. This has brought interest from the likes of Huddersfield and Aberdeen, resulting in Stoke wanting £200k for him rather than next to nothing!
