Sutherland heads for the seaside

The striker, who spent the last few years in America on a football scholarship, scored for Saints in a closed door friendly against Queen's Park before appearing as a sub against Ayr United. After that he wasn't seen again and had a spell training with Dumbarton.

It is therefore something of a surprise that the 22-year-old sprint champ from Edinburgh has managed to land himself such a good deal. Sutherland yesterday signed a two year contract at Bloomfield Road with the option for a further two - far better than anything he'd have gotten at Saints. With Ian Holloway's men just relegated from the Premiership, they have a fair bit of cash floating around and are perhaps more willing to take a risk on him turning good.
