Summer trial for Hodge

Last updated : 29 June 2009 By Stuart Gillespie
Hodge, who has been capped at numerous levels for Scotland, started his career at Rangers before joining Blackburn a few years ago. He has had loan spells with Mansfield, Millwall and Darlington and made his Rovers debut in the FA Cup at the start of the year. However, it now seems he is surplus to requirements.

A quick bit of research reveals that Hodge is a central midfielder, which is probably the last thing we need. However, he does seem left footed so perhaps he can play on the left wing - most of our other central midfielders have been used on the wings at some point!

Hibs boss Mixu Paatelainen had agreed to sign Hodge but it seems new boss John Hughes has pulled out of the deal. It's debatable whether we want Hibs' cast-offs, but I suppose if he was good enough for their previous boss he can't be too bad. Bringing him in for training means we'll get a look at him before deciding if he's good enough.
