St Mirren Park-in

Last updated : 07 June 2012 By Stuart Gillespie

The 30-year-old spent the second half of last season on loan at Queen of the South, scoring six goals during his time at Palmerston. It's one of his better returns in recent years, with his 18 months at the Saintees yielding just five goals. Since he had a decent spell at Swindon in the early 2000s he has struggled for form and injuries, which is rather worrying.

Parkin started off his career at Chelsea although failed to play a game for the Stamford Bridge club. Despite being born in England he has been capped for Scotland's B squad and has also played for the likes of Ipswich and Luton.

It's hardly a signing to get the pulses racing, especially with Parkin's problems in recent seasons. He at least provides some physical presence - handy for when Steven Thompson is suspended - and is our third summer signing, joining Cowdenbeath's Jon Robertson and former MK Dons forward Lewis Guy.
