SFL Defend Stadium Decision

Last updated : 09 November 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
When the decision was made a few weeks ago, both hamilton and Saints tried to get it moved to Firhill, but the SFL stood by their original decision. Most people agreed after Sunday's mayem that the venue was the wrong chouce, but the SFL beg to differ.

SFL president John Smith said: "The Shyberry is one of several stadiums which have one road in and one road out and that is why there were some problems.

"We chose Airdrie because it cost a fifth of what another ground would. The money generated was split between the two clubs and they would not have received that money if the game had been moved. I know a lot of people said it should have been at Firhill but there is no car parking there. Not even the Partick Thistle directors can get parked.

"Where were we supposed to put 60 buses and all the cars? There was some difficulty withthecateringbut if thatwas the only problem for some people that wasn't too bad."

Once again the SFL show they aren't the brightest of folk and have a very loose grip on reality.
