Sergei Signs For QOS

Sergei was a part of the Saints title winning team of 1999/2000 and picked up Scotland caps as well as being linked with moves down south. I could never understand why as he wasn't very good! He wasn't bad in the SPL, but was awful the year after, partly because he was played out of position.

He left in September 2002 after a little outburst. He gave away a last minute penalty against Arbroath, which everyone apart from him knew was a penalty! he signed for Millwall in the transfer window but was released last summer. He has been out of the game since then due to back trouble.

Sergei's dad, also called Sergei, was a fine footballer in his day and was in charge of Saints for a single game, which we lost 3-0 to Falkirk in December 1998. His sister, Elena, is Britain's best ladies tennis player. In an interview about an illness she has, she revealed that Sergei has signed for Queen of the south.

Elena said: "He’s signed a contract with Queen of the South after having back surgery. We’re a nightmare as a family aren’t we? He’s agreed a part-time deal for next season and aims to work his way back up. We’ve both been unlucky lately, but I’m proud of him."

That's 12 points for us then!
