Scoring start for former Saint

Last updated : 10 October 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

Mehmet has had a tough time since leaving Paisley last summer, being messed around by a couple of clubs in Turkey, coming close to signing for Hearts and going on trial with a club in New Zealand before landing a contract with Perth Glory.

The Aussie side's new season got underway yesterday and it seems they should have won quite comfortably, Mehmet missing a few decent chances before heading in the only goal with around 15 minutes left. Fellow ex Saint Steven McGarry was a Glory sub in the match, with 1987 Scottish Cup hero Ian Ferguson currently the manager.

Mirren Mad wouldn't normally bother about this sort of thing, but it's international week and nothing is happening!
