Sammy for Scotland!

Last updated : 06 November 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

Despite his poor performance against Hibs, Samson has been in great form for Saints this season after replacing the departed Paul Gallacher. Many people - including myself - were extremely concerned about the goalkeeping position due to Samson's performances with his former clubs, but he has improved greatly over the summer. Yesterday's clean sheet against Hearts was his seventh of the season, a vast improvement on last year.

Samson has been capped at youth level for Scotland - getting into trouble while away with the under-21s a few years back - but this is the first time he has been in the full squad. It's the first time we've had someone in the squad since Gallacher was drafted in a few years ago and, realistically, he has a slim chance of ending our 20 year wait for a Scotland cap with Allan McGregor and Matt Gilks ahead of him. However, just making the squad is a boost and should hopefully benefit him.

Well done Sammy!
