Saints To Be Kicked Out Of The Cup?

The squad contained two players under 21, Charlie Adam and Chris Smith, but as the latter is not an outfield player then he does not count (which seems silly, surely it's up to Saints if he can play outfield or not). In the previous round, David McKenna was on the bench meaning the rule was met.

Saints defence seems to be that the paperwork from the SFA is old and only specifies that two players under 21 are required, with mo mention of goalkeepers. We are unlikely to be kicked out of the cup (although it is one option), but we are likely to receive a hefty fine if found guilty.

There is another way out of it though. The rule in question specifies that at least two players must be under 21 on 1st January in the year the competition starts. The competition started in 2005, meaning Simon Lappin, Stewart Kean and John Sutton were all 21 or under. The problem with this is the woding of the rules. Is it under 21 or 21 and under?

A decision is likely to be made sometime today.
