Saints To Appeal Over Fine Amount

Last updated : 17 February 2006 By Stuart Gillespie
It would seem that whilst there was no right of appeal over the decision to penalise Saints, there is a right of appeal over the amount of the fine. In recent days there has been a campaign from Saints fans and various Scottish radio stations for the punishment to be reviewed.

£25,000 is a lot of money for most Scottish clubs and is probably more than one of our first team players earns in a year. The appeal will be lodged on Monday and will be heard by a panel of people who do not work from the SFA (so people with some degree of reason and intelligence then).

Meanwhile, one of Saints commercial partners has come up with a novel way to pay for the fine. For every new St. Mirren Soccersaver Account that is opened with the Dunfermline Building society, £5 will be donated towards paying for the fine. You only need £1 to start an account, so head on over to http://www.stmirrensaver.co.uk/ to sign up.
