Saints Sign Hamilton

Last updated : 30 January 2008 By Stuart Gillespie
Hamilton - who seems to have been around for ages but is only in his early 30s - has scored just four goals in the first division this season as Dunfermline have struggled following their relegation from the SPL. He has apparently been doing well in recent weeks, but many pars fans are happy to see the back of him.

On one hand, Hamilton is a good signing. He's a big, strong, physical striker who can rough the opposition up. He has plenty of experience at the top level of Scottish football - which will hopefully help some of our other strikers - and with him only signing until the end of the season, it's a fairly low risk move.

However, on the other hand, it's hardly a move to set the pulses racing. He's not exactly fast and his efforts in the first division this season haven't been that great. I was surprised when Livingston took him back to the SPL in the summer of 2004 so god knows what he's like now!

Still, we can't complain as it hadn't looked like we'd be bringing anyone in before the window shuts tomorrow night. Will there be anyone else? One player who won't be signing is keeper Kon Tsacos, who is only training at Love Street and will not be offered a deal.
