Judging by reports, Birchall is an attack minded player and can play on the right or in the middle - something we have been screaming it for for some time.
After spending five years at Port Vale, he moved to Coventry last summer for £325,000 but has fallen out of the picture since Iain Dowie arrived. It would seem he is set to join Saints on loan until at least January.
Could be a decent signing if it comes off - and let's hope it's not the only one before the window shuts!
