The Irishman joined the League Two club on a short term deal in September after leaving Brighton in the summer. His goalscoring record isn't great, suggesting he's more of a defensive player. We have a holding midfielder in Jim Goodwin but as Danny Lennon is continually having to sub him before he's sent off (partly because of the officials) it makes sense to have some cover.
The 27-year-old helped Stockport win promotion to League One in 2008 and then helped Brighton into the Championship a few years later. However, he was released by them at the end of last season and spent a few months without a club before ending up at Rochdale. A quick look at one of their forums shows th fans were excited about his signing but aren't quite as enthusiastic about him now!
