Saints aim to be Masters

The trio were part of the Millennium Champions team in 2000 and their inclusion is more than merited. I can't really dispute the inclusion of keeper John Hillcoat either. However, Ronnie McQuilter is also there and he was useless, while I've no idea who Gary Peebles is.

Saints were last involved in the Masters in 2007 and the team then also appeared to have a few players chucked in at the last minute - like McQuilter. Compare that to the team that was assembled for Hugh Murray's testimonial tournament that contained guys like Frank MGarvey and Frank McAvennie and you wonder why the organisers couldn't have got together a better team. Players like Barry McLaughlin and Kevin McGowne would surely have been up for it.

The masters will be at Braehead on June 12. Also taking part are Rangers, Celtic, Kilmarnock, Motherwell and Sunderland. Other former Buds competing for other teams include Allan Combe and Andy Millen. For more information, go to http://www.mastersfootball.com/Events/SelcoNorthernMasters.asp
