Quiet Deadline Day For Saints

Last updated : 31 January 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
The previous two January windows have seen varying amounts of changes. In 2003, John Coughlin made massive changes to the squad, with the likes of Junior Mendes and Andy Dow leaving whilst Scott McLean and Ally Mitchell arrived. Last year there was one signing by Gus MacPherson, Chris McGroarty coming in due to an injury to left back Laurie Ellis. Andy Millen also arrived from Clyde to become player/assistant manager, but he had arrived just before the window opened as a wildcard.

This year there hasn't been one signing or departure for Saints. St. Johnstone's Ryan Stevenson was linked with a move, but that never materialised. It was announced a few weeks ago that there would be no new signings until MacPherson and Millen hadn't signed their contracts. They still havent. Whilst there were no signings during the window, Saints did strengthen in December, signing Stewart Kean from Ayr United. Still, one signing after two thirds of the season isn't that great.

Near enough every other team in the first division has strengthened during the window, many today. A few ex Saints have been linked with moves, but none have yet changed clubs.
