Partick Thistle v Saints Preview

Let's not get too far ahead of ourselves though. After the last few games I'd just take a goal. Three 0-0 draws on the bounce must be some sort of club record. Mind you, before we gubbed Partick 3-0 this season, we had managed three draws in a row, the game before being a win over Ross County. Chances of history repeating itslef? I'll take a 1-0 Saints win thanks, though won't say no to 3-0!

Saints have the usual injury problems ahead of tomorrow's game. Strikers Mixu Paatelainen and Stewart Kean are still injured, which means we'll probably have the ineffectual strike force of Brian McGinty and Allan Russell up front. In fairness to Russell, when he gets a chance he does well, scoring or creating. McGinty doesn't score and rarely creates. The pair did well against Thistle the last time at Firhill, for god sake they better do so again or the calls for the likes of John Baird and David McKenna to be given their chance will only increase.

David van Zanten might be fit but, if not, recent signing Alan Reid will continue.  It seems from the reports that Reid has done well over the past few games, so once he gets himself fully match fit could prove to be a handy acquisition.

Pre season people tipped Partick Thistle to win the league. Not me though, oh no. I predicted they'd be second. What I actually meant to say was that they'd be second bottom, whilst Clyde and Saints would be second and third.

Partick have been astonishingly bad this season, although they are one of just two sides to beat champions elect Falkirk (copyright Scottish media) in the league this season, the other being Saints back in August. Nevertheless, the league table doesn't lie.

A Saints win tomorrow could help Thistle on their way to back to back relegations, which would be extremely funny. However, I think it'll be another dull 0-0.
