Orient Decide Against Russell

Russell played in three friendlies for Orient as a trialist but failed to score in any of them, so they decided against offering him a contract. It is thought he may now be about to try his luck with Macclesfield Town, although this hasn't been confirmed. There have also been rumours suggesting he may even return to Saints.

Russell rejected a contract offer from Saints towards the end of last season. It was left on the table for a further month but he still wouldn't sign it as he wanted to try his luck down south. Russell was an infuriating player who had talent but rarely used it. He'd often have a good gae or two before having producing nothing for a few months. He was looking good towards the end of last season, which may have ben down to the fact that he was out of contract in the summer.
