One On Trial, Heath To Follow

Last updated : 04 July 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
One's arrival at Love Street was suggested in Saturday's edition of The Rumour Mill, though that indiciated it would be a straight signing rather than a trial. One is a well built striker, very tall and very physical. That's the sort of striker we need. Unfortunately, One isn't very good. His heading seems to be atrocious and he rarely makes use of his strength. He sounds like a cross between Maikel Renfurm and Jens Paeslack with a bit of Jose Quitongo thrown in for good measure.

Hopefully if Saints do sign him they can work on these, and other, aspects of his game. Partick fans believe that he does have some talent but is very, very raw. The Frenchman was also rumoured to have been out on the town just a day before an important Partick match last season, hardly what we need.

The news that Gareth Heath is to come on trial is a bit of a surprise after the player himself posted on the official Saints site last week saying it was off. He has work commitments this week that made it impossible for him to join in from the start of pre-season and had been told he couldn't come up next week. However, it seems that Saints have had a change of heart and the free scoring Halstead Town midfielder will join up with the squad next week.
