News Round Up

At the moment two experienced players are currently training with Saints. Former Saints defender Martin Baker has been training at the club all summer, and is now training with the first team squad. Meanwhile, former Bolton, Raith Rovers and Partick Thistle defender Stephen McAnespie is also training with the club. With the defence needing a bit of experience in it either signing would be good.

Last week the Saints board made a compensation offer to Tom Hendrie. This seems a bit odd, considering the board have claimed they never sacked him. If he accepts it, however, it gets this sorry saga behind us. On the subject of former managers/players, three of them have found new managers jobs this week. John McCormack has taken over at Morton, Campbell Money is now director of football at Ayr, and Alex Smith is the new Ross County boss.

The new stadium moved a step closer this week after a heads of agreement was signed by the Saints board, supermarket chain Morrisons and Barr Construction. Now we have to convince the council we should be allowed to go through with the plan.

Finally, the Saints injury problems look to be getting a bit better, with Mark Yardley, Hugh Murray and Junior Mendes all being fit. However, Brian McGinty is out for 6-8 weeks with ligament troubles! Get well soon Brian.
