News Round Up

First off, Martin Baker is training at Love Street. Baker left Saints in 1997 to go to Kilmarnock, with Tom Brown coming to Saints in return. Killie released him over the summer, but he hasn't played much for them after s bust up with then manager Bobby Williamson about the CIS Final in 2001. In his first attempt to impress new boss Jim Jeffries he suffered an injury and is currently without a club. Baker was one person highlighted as an experienced, available player we should be trying to get. He's been training at Love Street over the summer, however has now been given the chance to train with the first team squad. We could sign him, let's hope so.

Paisley Panda was in the news again this week after his antics against Queen of the South. Despite the previous PP retiring last season, ot would appear his replacement is just as controversial, after simulating sexual acts with an inflatible sheep! Police say they received several complaints, although they are probably making that up to try and show they have a use at football games.

Finally, our good soapdodging chums down the river at Morton sacked Dave McPherson yesterday after the board decided the team had been underachieving. All joking and rivalry aside, they have been. Their new board has invested tons of money, bringing in some good Finnish guy, David Hopkin (who supposedly retired yesterday), the Maisano brothers, Alex Williams and even Warren Hawke. Morton should be walking division 3, especially going on the performance against us in the first half. Rowan Alexander is the favourite for the job, however I think Tom Hendrie fits the bill, especially as one Morton fan complained about Dave McPherson only standing about for 90 minutes with his arms folded. None of that with Hendrie!
