News Round Up

Last updated : 02 April 2005 By Stuart Gillespie
There was no progress on the ground move, nothing happening in the boardroom, no new signings and there don't seem to have been any rumours, aside from the shocking April Fool's Day jokes around. In fact, it seems that only two major things happened.

One of these involves Craig Hinchcliffe. The goalkeeper has been in outstanding form since signing from Arbroath in the summer of 2003. His contract expired in the summer and many Saints fans had been worried about the fact he hadn't signed a new one. Fortunately those worries have now been put to bed after he signed a new two year deal during the week. Hinchy joins Kirk Broadfoot, Brian McGinty, Hugh Murray, David van Zanten, Stewart Kean and Alan Reid in pledging their futures to Saints, along with the management team of Gus MacPherson and Andy Millen.

The other news was of Ricky Gillies' testimonial match during the week against Celtic. The opposition team contained a few big names, such as Paul Lambert and Stephen Pearson, along with a load of five year olds. The Saints team included former players Brian McLaughlin and Steven McGarry, whilst Ludovic Roy would have played but was injured. Saints managed to win 1-0 which was a surprise. We scored a goal and it was Brian McGinty that scored it! There was more good news with striker Stewart Kean returning to action for the last twenty minutes. During that time he managed to score, but it was chalked off for offside.

So that's about all that happened. A report of today's game against Raith Rovers will be online later.
