New contract for captain

Opinion on Potter, a key member of the 2005/06 double winning team, is divided among the Saints support - some people rate him, some people think he should be ditched. I'm probably somewhere in between as he can have good games but is prone to the odd costly error. In fairness, the same could probably be sad of most of the team.

It's probably a good move getting Potter tied up, especially this early, as on his day he is a reasonably solid defender. It's interesting this news comes less than a fortnight after manager Gus MacPherson said contract talks had been put on the back burner for the time being!

Potter was made captain at the start of the season and will make history on Saturday as the last player to lead out a Saints team at Love Street.
