Mooy offered new deal

Last updated : 19 April 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

When Mooy signed six months ago, it was said the club had an option to keep him on beyond the end of the season. However, news has broken today that he has been given a written offer of another year's contract. Perhaps this is part of the clause.

Mooy left Bolton in the summer and, after a lengthy trial spell at Saints, signed in late October. Despite the club having to pay compensation for him he rarely got a chance - although he did score against Peterhead in the cup. For some reason, Saints boss Danny Lennon didn't seem to rate him and made bizarre comments about the fans not giving him a chance - even though he was only giving him five minute run outs!

However, in the last month or so he has been getting more of a chance - starting three of our last five games. Unsurprisingly, increased game time has led to an improvement in his performances and he is beginning to show the promise that had the Saints management excited in the first place.

Let's hope that if he continues to play well, he signs the new deal and we can really enjoy seeing him next season.
