McPake bid rejected

Apparently the club received two substantial bids from two SPL sides for McPake and also Dave Mackay. No prizes for guessing who it was that made an offer for McPake, while it is thought Motherwell tried to get Mackay.

Saints tried earlier in the summer to sign McPake, but an offer of around £50,000 was rejected. It is thought the new offer was a six figure sum, but this has also been turned down - suggesting the first division side are in no rush to sell.

It had been hoped Saints would have a new defender in time for Saturday's game against Kilmarnock. With Will Haining suspended and Marc McAusland injured, MacPherson will now need to turn his attentions elsewhere to bring in a new player in time for the weekend.
