McLean up for award

The 20-year-old has been in terrific form this season - although has had a few injury problems lately - and picked up the young player of the month award earlier in the campaign. Now he's in the running for a bigger prize and, by my reckoning, is the first Saints player ever to be nominated for any of the PFA's SPL awards.

The winner is voted for by the players and Kenny faces some stiff competition in the shape of Celtic's James Forrest and Dundee United's Johnny Russell and Gary-Mackay Steven.

Also in the running for a prize at the awards ceremony in early May is Jon Robertson. The Cowdenbeath midfielder will be joining Saints in the summer and is on the shortlist for the second division player of the year prize.
