McLean chase hots up

Last updated : 17 March 2014 By Stuart Gillespie

The 22-year-old's deal expires in the summer and it seems almost certain he'll move on in the summer. News of Ipswich's interest emerged last week but the number of public suitors has increased significantly since then.

If McLean moves south of the border we will be entitled to around £350,000 in compensation. However, if he goes to Rangers we'd get around a fraction of that as it would be set by a tribunal.

McLean was a Rangers fan growing up so he may prefer a move to Ibrox, even though he'd be playing in the Scottish Championship next season rather than the English equivalent. However, he was at Rangers as a youth and may decide to go elsewhere after they let him go a number of years ago.
