McKernon, who has made two appearances for Saints, has got off to a great start at Somerset. He's made five appearances and scored against Raith Rovers in the cup. Clearly he has done enough to convince Brian Reid he is worth hanging onto, which is why the deal has been extended.
McKernon has a contract with Saints until the end of next season, so both the player and the club can only gain from him gaining first team experience in the first division.
