McGowan for the Palace?

Last updated : 07 November 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

Reports today suggest Palace had the former Celtic man watched in Saturday's draw against Hearts, when fellow Championship side Burnley were also said to be watching Kenny McLean. The pair had decent, if not spectacular, games and will probably be watched again in the coming months - with internet rumours suggesting more than just Palace want McGowan.

After a reasonable season while on loan from Celtic last year, McGowan has been superb since making his move to Paisley permanent. Our new style of play has clearly helped him and he has also chipped in with a few goals, so it's not a surprise to hear he's attracting interest from elsewhere.

McGowan is under contract until the summer of 2013 so we would be due a sizeable fee - unless his contract included a minimum fee release clause. There's also the problem that Celtic are rumoured to be due as much as half of any future fee for McGowan or Graham Carey, both of whom joined us from the Bhoys for nothing in the summer.

One way to offset that problem would be for Palace to give us a certain midfielder by the name of Andy Dorman as part-exchange...
