Mathers came to Saints as a goalkeeping coach three years ago, shortly after he'd signed for East Fife - a move that didn't go down well with the Fifers, who promptly got revenge by turfing us out of the league cup!
Mathers has been on the bench a few times but hasn't featured for the first team and is really only registered incase of emergencies. We currently have three "proper" keepers but it's likely one will leave, so keeping Mathers on is a decent shout.
The club have also confirmed that coach Stuart Balmers has left the club, meaning Mathers is just about the only member of Gus MacPherson's coaching staff to be kept on.
