MacPherson Not Interested In Caley Job

Last updated : 15 January 2006 By Stuart Gillespie
After Saints 4-1 hammering of Airdrie United, MacPherson told another reporter: "I won't be applying for the job. We are at St Mirren and delighted with the job we are doing.

"We're only half-way there and haven't achieved anything yet. As far as I am concerned, it is just speculation as a result of the efforts by the players that have put us in such a good position."

This is excellent news for Saints fans, as some people (including me!) were a bit worried that he would find the lure of SPL football now rather than (hopefully) next season too much to resist. A Caley official had said that he was impressed with MacPherson's work at Saints and invited him to apply for the job. Fortunately, Gus seems to have declined the kind offer.

Panic over, until the next time...
