Is Carey coming back?

Last updated : 23 June 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

There have been rumours that Carey would be heading to Saints for some time. It now seems that Celtic are happy to let him come to Saints - although it is unknown if it would be a loan or permanent deal - and it is up to the player to decide what he wants to do.

Lennon said:  "We've had permission to speak to Graham but we're waiting to hear back from his agent. We're not sure if it will be a loan or a permanent deal. Celtic hold the cards at this moment in time.

"Graham has great quality on the ball and would give us balance on the left. He can play in midfield or at left-back and is strong going forward.

"Graham has wonderful technique and his deliveries from set-plays are great. He would fit into my style and philosophy but we just have to wait and see."

Carey spent six months at Saints in 2010 and scored three goals, two from free-kicks - one being a screamer against Hearts. He was on loan at Huddersfield for part of last season and it seems the Irishman - who won a young player of the month award while with us - is out of the picture at Parkhead.

It would be terrific if Carey came back, even if it was just a loan move. With the Saints squad set to fly out to Portugal on Saturday, it would make sense for Carey to sign tomorrow - if he does indeed decide to move to Paisley once again.

Lennon has also revealed he is looking for a new leftback and possibly another striker.
