Imrie set for Saints switch

In the last hour or so BBC Scotland's Jonathan Sutherland posted this on Twitter: "St Mirren are close to signing Dougie Imrie from Hamilton Academical." which would suggest we have indeed made a move.

Dundee United have already been looking at the former Clyde and Inverness Thistle man and had a £25,000 bid for him turned down. It would seem we've been able to offer about £40,000 - a bit of a risk considering Imrie is 28 and has never been that prolific - and its now down to personal terms.

Imrie played against us in last night's Scottish Cup replay, almost scoring a stunning equaliser in the dying minutes. Afterwards Saints boss Danny Lennon said some rather nice things about him and Imrie posted on Twitter he enjoyed the "banter" (or abuse as it's more commonly known) with the Saints fans.

Imrie is a hardworking player that seems to be the type of person who winds you up but you'd happily have in your team. Worryingly, his last three clubs have all been relegated a year or so after he joined!
