Howard set for Aberdeen switch

The Dons have been linked with Howard for the best part of a month as they look for competition for Jamie Langfield, and it now seems manager Mark McGhee will get his man. Howard spent most of last season as number two to Paul Gallacher and was set to start the new season in a similar position, so it's unlikely he'll turn down this chance to move - especially as it will probably see him get a payrise.

It's rather surprising this is being allowed to take place, especially as it seems there won't be a transfer fee. While we needed to get rid of a keeper as we had three on the books, that happened earlier in the week when Chris Smith signed for Dunfermline. Howard's departure will leave us with just Gallacher and goalkeeping coach Paul Mathers, who is only registered for an emergency. One can only assume this is more cost cutting and manager Danny Lennon will be forced to bring in a cheaper option than Howard as a rival for Gallacher's slot.
