Hillcoat Signs For Stranraer

After Ludo Roy was loaned out to St. Johnstone last season, Saints needed a new goalie. John Hillcoat was signed from Dumbarton, having previously been with Saints in the 1980s. Despite having a horrific first two games, losing 4 goals in each, he got his act together against Raith Rovers and Ayr United, performing brilliantly in each one. By the end of the season he'd put in some fairly good performances, however Saints had to let him go due to financial problems. He was told that if he hadn't found a new club by the start of pre season training, and one of Saints goalies moved on, he would be signed. Sadly for him, neither Ludo or Kris Robertson left, and Hillcoat decided not to turn up for pre season training as he couldn't face training unless he'd definitely be signed. Fair enough.

Amazingly no one signed him up until yesterday, despite his good performances. Goodness knows why he couldn't find a club, and he was worried he wouldn't be signed up before thre transfer deadline. Fortunately Stranrer came to the rescue and Mirren Mad would like to wish him all the best, especially after helping us avoid relegation for a second successive season.
