Hibs eye up Goodwin

Last updated : 15 January 2012 By Stuart Gillespie

Goodwin arrived at Greenhill Road from Hamilton just over a year ago and has been in superb form as he sits in front of the defence. He has been missing for the last few weeks due to a three game ban he received after punching Motherwell's Steve Jennings - ironically about an hour before he scored a stunning equaliser - and also due to injury.

Losing Goodwin would be a huge blow, even if he didn't move until the summer. Saints boss Danny Lennon revealed at the end of last week that he wouldn't be holding contract talks with players for another month or two but news of Hibs' interest may force his hand.

The cynical part of me thinks it's a rather handy coincidence that our captain is being linked with a move away a few days after it was revealed there'd be no new deals for a while - just as it was a coincidence Lennon was being linked with another club after revealing he was worried he wouldn't get a new contract in Paisley. And you'll never guess who he was being linked with that time...
