Gus in signing talks

Last updated : 21 January 2010 By Stuart Gillespie

At the start of the window, Saints boss MacPherson suggested there would be no new players coming in since there was no money. This then changed to the possibility of players coming in if players went out - with the latter having happened thanks to the departure of Stephen McGinn.

Now Gus has revealed he is speaking to players, clubs and agents about possible signings, although doesn't expect anything to happen until nearer the end of the transfer window. With that just over a week away, he'll need to act fast. He also hasn't ruled out the possible departure of more players.

The Sky Sports website suggests a number of clubs are after a player called Chris Sharp, who plays for Bangor City. It claims that Saints had previously expressed interest in the forward, son of former Scotland and Everton player Graeme Sharp. Other clubs are also interested in him and it'll be interesting to see what happens. He has a good scoring record in Wales, but whether he'd be able to maintain that in the SPL is another matter.
