Gus and Andy get Queens gig

MacPherson has been out of a job since he was sacked by Saints at the end of last season. He was linked with a number of posts and was unsuccessful in an attempts to take over at Swindon and Bristol Rovers, while he reportedly turned down the Ross County job. Now, he's back in action in Dumfries.

Millen has had some football work since he left a year ago - working as a coach at Hamilton before playing for Queen's Park in the third division, helping them to a decent run of form.

The pair are set to sign one year contracts at Palmerston and have their work cut out for them. Queens have just three first team players signed up and have been making major cutbacks as they bid to tackle significant losses in recent years.

Gus arrived at Saints in 2003 as player/assistant to John Coughlin and became manager after he was sacked towards the end of the year, with Andy joining as assistant. In 2005/06 he led us to League Challenge Cup and first division glory before keeping us in the SPL for four years. We also made the semi-finals of the Scottish Cup in 2009 and the League Cup final the year after - although the less said about that afternoon the better! Andy only stopped playing for us in 2008, becoming the club's oldest ever player.

It's surprising it has taken Gus so long to get back into management as he seems to be highly rated by many people outside the game. Good luck to him and Andy in their new job.
