Gray day for trialist

Last updated : 08 July 2009 By Stuart Gillespie
During his time with the Edinburgh club, Gray had two loan spells with Partick Thistle and is most famous for scoring against Rangers at Ibrox in the Scottish Cup last season. However, aside from that, his strike rate seems pretty poor. One goal in his time with Hibs (admittedly he only played a few games) and seven from 27 games at Partick in the first division hardly inspires a great deal of confidence.

Gray, who turns 21 on Saturday, will be assessed in some of the friendlies we have in the next few weeks before a decision is taken on him. It's telling that, despite having been on loan at Firhill, Partick only offered him a trial this summer rather than a contract.

Speculation is rife on the web about the identity of the other two trialists, with some claims suggesting they may be internationalists for Trinidad and Tobago!
