Goodwin banned as Saints hit back

Goodwin whacked the Dundee United midfielder with less than 10 minutes of the game gone. It was a stupid thing to do and he fully deserves his punishment - the club obviously agreeing as they have chosen not to contest the decision from SFA compliance officer Vincent Lunny. How referee Bobby Madden missed it I'll never know - but don't hold your breath waiting for the SFA to punish him for his incompetence.

While accepting the punishment, Saints have also had a go at Dundee United in a statement that can be read at www.saintmirren.net/pages/?p=29577 The club aren't happy that United boss Jackie McNamara singled out Goodwin after the game - and even angrier that United's club website posted footage of the incident on their website and various social media outlets.

There have been suggestions in recent days that United could end up in trouble for doing that and they can have few complaints if they do. Have we come to the stage where clubs grass each other up when they're not happy with how a player has acted?
