Gomah coming on trial

Last updated : 10 July 2013 By Stuart Gillespie

It emerged a few weeks ago the teenager, who recently represented his country in the under-17 equivalent of the African Cup of Nations, was heading to Paisley. The article was treated with suspicion by many people, including myself, partly because a Google search of his name turned up little information. It seems the problem for that was the original story about his trial had spelt his name incorrectly - and it could still be wrong, with Gomina another possible spelling.

The player himself has now revealed he is looking to win a contract and said: "I am happy to be at St Mirren trying to win a contract. I want to make a name for myself in the Scottish league.

"I am a young player with a lot of ambition. St Mirren could be a great start for my career. They are a family club and I can sense that.

"My ambition is to become an international player in the next two years. If I impress here and play well, I might get to go to the World Cup."

Bold ambitions to say the least. He is unlikely to be with the first team in Spain at the moment so will either join them for training next week or will be with the under-20s as we look to assess him further.
