Gilmour: Season Was "Disappointing"

Last updated : 24 May 2003 By Stuart Gillespie
"Dear Season Ticket Holder,

To describe the season just ended as 'disappointing' is a vast understatement.

Narrowly avoiding relegation is way below our expectations, change in management and the mid-season turn round in playing personnel failed to produce the anticipated improvement, although a lengthy injury list meant that consistency of team selection proved impossible. With the possible exception of the physio, no-one worked harder than John Coughlin to reverse the slump in our results. I am delighted that we have secured the services of Gus McPherson as Player/Assistant Manager. His on field experience, organisational ability and enthusiasim will bridge an all too obvious gap in our set-up, and with many of our current squad out of contract further changes in playing personnel will ensue.

A long close-season is now upon us, with little or no revenue to the Club. Your continuing support as a season ticket holder is vital to assist us in attracting the required calibre of player for our squad so that we can field a team which will challenge for a place in the premier league.

I thank you for your past support and appeal to you to renew your season ticket for the coming season which would prove to be an histroci one for St Mirren Football Club.

Yours faithfully

S.G. Gilmour

Chairman

I'd like to point out the which would bit in the last line is not my typo, it's either Gilmour's or he knows something we don't.

Season ticket prices are the same as last season so get buying!
