Five men go to Ireland

Last updated : 29 January 2011 By Stuart Gillespie

The Irish season runs with the calendar year and they play through the summer so it seems their manager, Sean Connor, is looking to strengthen his squad with some new players ahead of the start of pre-season training.

The potential transfers of Bradley, McKernon, Faulds and Horne is fair enough. They are all youngsters and could all do with first team experience. However, McCluskey going would be a bit of a surprise. He only signed in September and was supposed to be a first team player, although has hardly played. With his contract up in the summer it seems likely that a loan deal would signal the end of his time with Saints.

With the Irish season being different to the Scottish one I'm guessing any loan deals could be concluded after our transfer window closes on Monday. However, if the players move before then perhaps we would then have the money to sign someone else - although I wouldn't hold my breath!
