Fans Agree on St. Johnstone Rip Off

Last updated : 12 August 2002 By Stuart Gillespie
Last season in the SPL, St. Johnstone charged £16 for away fans to gain entry. This season the price has gone up to £17 as the away fans will be situatied in McDairmid Park's Main Stand. Some St. Johnstone fans are trying to justify this by saying our fans could enter the home end where it is £15 for adults. This is still a bit steep, compared to the next up in division 1 where £13.50 will get you into the stand at Brockville, or £12-£13 will get you into the stands at most other ground. St Johnstone are still charging SPL products for first division games, great idea. Their reason for not opening the away end is they don't expect much travelling support this season. They can be sure of that if they are charging £17! Some Caley Thistle fans came up with the fantastic plan of paying the £17 in change, such as coppers or 5ps and 20ps. While they could reject to accept this, they didn't and it is worth a try as a sort of protest. A better idea than going in the home end, which is just stupid.

Anyway, the poll results are when Mirren Mad's visitors were asked "What Do You Think Of St. Johnstone Charging £17 For Away Fans This Season?" are as follows:

It's Too Expensive 78.0%
It's Too Cheap 10.0%
It's About Right 6.0%
Don't Care 6.0%

The 10% for too cheap are probably St. Johnstone fans, while the two at 6% are there because whenever voting starts the percentage is spread equally across choices and gradually go down. A big thanks to the 50 people who voted.

The latest poll regards which formation Saints should use for the new season. Some of the choice may seem a bit strange but it seemed like Tom Hendrie was using them in the Celtic friendly! If you think we should use a formation that isn't there, shove it on the message board :-)
