Disappointing start to pre-season

It's not time to panic though as friendlies mean absolutely nothing and the teams we were facing are much further along in their preparations than us. All that matters is we're ready to go against Inverness Caley Thistle on August 3.

First up was the first team playing Charlton yesterday morning, the game bringing to an end their week long training camp in Spain. Every one of the 20 players there was involved and we eventually went down 4-0.

After that it was time for the under-20s to take part in the Raydale Cup at Gretna. They were handed a difficult game against a Wrexham side that featured plenty of experienced players and a giant defender who looked like hed eaten a few of our strikers as soon as he got off the bus. With that in mind - as well as the best youngsters being in Spain - it's perhaps no surprise a team full of under-17s and trialists went down 6-1.

The under-20s/17s/whatever were back in action again today in the third/fourth placed play-off. This time they were up against Lowland League side Gretna 2008, who lost to Stirling yesterday. Again they lost, this time going down 2-0 and finishing with 10 men.

next up for the first team is Saturday's Renfrewshire Cup final against Morton at Greenhill Road.
